Pale Blue is an interactive installation, using the interface of a stationary bicycle the user is able to ride through an uncanny 3D representation of South Kensington, London. I have examined the interaction between public and private data, through making my personal data both visible and available. I am interested in mapping. in the way people move around the city creating data. The city is alive with embedded systems responding to users, from surveillance cameras, the timing of traffic lights, communications and coordinations of phone and mobile devices. Pale Blue is overlaid with a foreboding data shadow, four years of GPS drawings produced from my personal movements hang above the city. The user is confronted with this new reality. The work reflects and represents a known world. Pale Blue is directly responding to the city environment.
